Protecting the "Blue Amazon" requires continuous and persistent monitoring.

Within a maritime expanse of continental proportions—covering 5.7 million square kilometers—lie concentrated natural resources (many as yet untapped), critical infrastructure, strategic shipping lanes, and activities essential to both national development and the sustainable growth of the "Blue Economy." In such a vast area, it is imperative to develop maritime situational awareness to enable an effective response by the Brazilian State to various threats and to safeguard national interests.

It is within this context that the Maritime Operations and Blue Amazon Protection Command (COMPAAz) operates.

AN INTEGRATED AND COOPERATIVE VISION FOR THE SOUTH ATLANTIC

The South Atlantic is a maritime space of high strategic and economic importance, characterized by intense commercial flows, offshore operations, research activities, resource exploration, and the interests of various nations and organizations.

In this vast and complex environment, it is essential to fuse, analyze, and share information from diverse sources—transforming raw data into actionable knowledge, enhancing Maritime Situational Awareness, and fostering more coordinated and efficient action to safeguard interests in the South Atlantic.

It is within this context that the Information Fusion Center – South Atlantic (IFC South Atlantic) was established. It is designed to serve as a cooperative operational center of excellence, facilitating integration among national and international strategic partners, incorporating varied perspectives, and contributing collaboratively and cooperatively to maritime security and regional stability.

The IFC South Atlantic represents a tangible opportunity to translate cooperation into capability, bringing together navies, coast guards, institutions, organizations, and private enterprises to broaden Maritime Situational Awareness.
